I originally wrote this page as a satirical overview of Gentoo. It's probably best to rewrite it to give it a more factual sense. --Fontain (talk) 15:41, 28 January 2014 (EST)

There is no reason to post useless images here, unless you would like to be blocked. --Bisasam (talk) 09:20, 3 February 2014 (EST)

There is no reason to include an installation guide. May I remove it?

-- Galactus (talk) 11:46, 4 December 2015 (EST)

It would be more beneficial to make a separate article for the installation guide. —Morpheus (talk) 22:02, 20 December 2015 (EST)
What's the point? There are plenty of funtoo and gentoo installation guides out there. Hand holding would have adverse effects in this case and people would be better off reading the documentation. -- Galactus (talk) 22:26, 20 December 2015 (EST)
The same can be said for DNSCrypt, Package manager and many more. What's the point for installation guide for DNSCrypt? People would be better of reading the documentation of it. —Morpheus (talk) 22:33, 20 December 2015 (EST)
DNSCrypt's compilation is quite simple and offers no USE flags and no customisation, other than some tweaks like removing systemd, that have to be done manually. As for the configuration bit, I don't believe there is a guide online as comprehensive as our article is right now. The Unbound article is a better example though, as it is an aggregate of 'guides' and does a good job at explaining everything.
Gentoo is an operating system. It's extremely complex, and customisable, and the user would be better off reading the documentation beforehand, instead of doing things for the sake of doing them and bragging rights. — Galactus (talk) 22:40, 20 December 2015 (EST)
Since users are free to do add/delete informations on this wiki (as long as it is within rules, policy and common sense) I have no objections over it. However if it triggers an edit war, I'll do necessary actions, and the two conflicting parties will discuss it on the talk page until an agreement is reached or an enforced action by admins (if the result is a stalemate). —Morpheus (talk) 22:52, 20 December 2015 (EST)
I know, that's why I'm asking here. You are free to give your opinion as a user as well, despite having been promoted. I just don't think our subsection of the article adds anything to, or is as good as the original article on the gentoo/funtoo pages. — Galactus (talk) 23:17, 20 December 2015 (EST)
After all, I'll think they have to look in the Gentoo wiki if they want to install it, I'll rework this page if I have the time.  Morpheus talk 13:39, 8 July 2016 (EDT)
I hold the opinion that distro or OS specific routines should be in their own wiki pages, which is probably what I might do to Package manager by adding the commands to each distro's own page. Keboler (talk) 23:01, 20 December 2015 (EST)
