- This article is aimed at new/prospective GNU/Linux users. Most ISOs are prepackaged with a desktop environment, so it's important the the user have a good idea of what the desktop will look like when they first boot it up. The DE is an important factor to consider before making the investment of downloading a ~1GB ISO.
