XDCC
Filesharing via IRC.
XDCC bots serve a selection of files ("packs") for download via DCC.
XDCC bots work using PMs sent to the bot with a request for a particular pack number, at which point the bot will attempt to initiate a direct connection to you and begin transferring your specified pack(s).
Files are transferred in plain without encryption by default.
- The syntax is usually:
/msg [bot-name] xdcc send pack-number
- To request that the bot send you a pack, or:
/msg [bot-name] xdcc info pack-number
- To request info from the bot about a particular pack
To find out what pack a bot is carrying and what their pack numbers are, you have to obtain their packlists. Usually the packlist is stored on the bot itself as a text file, other times it may be on a website, sometimes both.
- Some bots support xdcc list command:
/msg [bot-name] xdcc list
- If the packlist is stored as a textfile on the bot itself, it's frequently available as pack #-1, 0 or 1
/msg [bot-name] xdcc send -1
To request a batch of packs at once (supported by most bots): xdcc batch pack-numbers
/msg [bot-name] xdcc batch 22 23 24
/msg [bot-name] xdcc batch 22-24
