Perhaps a section on dumbphones? Seems to be a thread every so often asking about what non-smart phone to buy.

Merge with Cell Phone carrier article

I think that "portables" should be merged with the cell phone carrier article--Se7en (talk) 23:53, 20 February 2016 (EST)

Or delete Phones instead, since it is catered for U.S. mobile carriers only.  Morpheus talk 09:26, 21 February 2016 (EST)

It seems that Phones is devoted to the carriers, rather than the phones themselves, so why not instead just rename the Phones page "Cell phone carriers"? Then you could link that article in the portables page. --Theredpikmin (talk) 22:30, 24 February 2016 (EST)

IMO, this page should absolutely become "phones" or "mobile devices" or some clever word meaning phones/tablets. The existing phones page is really a Cell Phone Carrier page, or American Cell Phone Networks page, which would fit much better into a Carrier heading within a Cell Phone page.

Ideas for a page heading which means "cell phones and tablets":

  • Mobile Devices
  • Portable Computing Devices

Ideas for a page heading meaning Cell Phones which could have a Tablet section:

  • Cell Phones
  • Mobile Phones
  • Mobile Devices
  • Portable Computing Devices
  • Communications Devices
  • Post-PC Devices

I listed them from "my best idea" to "my worst idea" lol.

The cell phone networks page is probably out of date, too. Or if it isn't, will be. It could be improved by adding dates to the time specific information. Mrsnooze (talk) 04:23, 5 March 2016 (EST)

Mobile Devices sounds best for me. This page needs to be open to both phones and tablets because the line between them is so thin. A smartphone is really a tablet you can call people with, etc.
Perhaps divide the page between "Android" and "Apple" (and also Kindles, if people still use those). Then within those two categories add subcategories for phones and tablets. Throw custom roms and whatnot in the mix as well.
Oh, and definitely change the Phones page to "carriers" or something more cleaver, and link it in this page.
While Im at it, I will share this old graph that used to be circulated on /g/. It may be out of date but hey, it helped me decide to purchase the Galaxy Note II. (great phone btw). --Theredpikmin (talk) 14:40, 5 March 2016 (EST)
