Does this exist? Not too familiar with wikipedia's software and its myriad of modules so I figured I'd ask here since it would be nice to have and make for VASTLY tidier/neater articles, and it'd also lessen the amount of scrolling required.

There are some pages which contain direct copy/pastes from other wikis which may be violations of those wiki's licences. I don't know much about licence compatibilities, but since IGW is public domain, I wonder if we're compatible with anything other that public domain?

Hello
 +
 +
I am have been on the Gentoo wiki, this one: https://wiki.installgentoo.com/
 +
 +
and I have been removing racist mentions and words from wiki pages there and a certain user is getting angry that I am doing the right thing, that user is Se7en1 https://wiki.installgentoo.com/wiki/User_talk:Se7en1
 +
 +
He came to my talk page and threatened to kb(?) me (I am not exactly sure what that means, but I am guessing he wants to ban me). I am up against a powertripping racist internet troll (for real...) and I would like to have admin rights (before if he gets them) so I can protect myself against sad people like him who takes the time out of their lives to post racism on a wiki page (which does sound unbelievable that there are such people in this world, but hey I am just trying to fix up this wiki).

What is the next step I should take? Please consider my request and grant me admin rights. Thank you.

User page

I would like access to edit my user page to remove the link to my Wikipedia user page.--The One, The Only... Chocolate Chip! (talk) 23:07, 16 December 2015 (EST)

Because of the calmed situation, all user pages' protection has been removed. However if something happens, the corresponding page will be protected again. Morpheus (talk) 23:25, 16 December 2015 (EST)
Something happened again. Some spammer created a spam page, and redirected my user page to it, and also spammed my talk page.--The One, The Only... Chocolate Chip! (talk) 19:42, 18 December 2015 (EST)
I am aware of the situation. My talk page, Build a PC, List of recommended GNU/Linux software and Programming languages were affected too. Most damages have been reverted, fortunately. —Morpheus (talk) 20:00, 18 December 2015 (EST)

Redirects

I think that when a new page is made, a redirect should automatically be made for common spellings, such as Script kiddie also redirecting to script kiddie and Script Kiddie, and possibly the plural Script kiddies and all its subforms. I believe Wikipedia does this as well. --The One, The Only... Chocolate Chip! (talk) 16:44, 7 January 2016 (EST)

I believe that Wikipedia have *tons of* bots that do the automation, or that Wikipedia uses a plug-in for that.  Morpheus talk 20:07, 7 January 2016 (EST)

Banned

Was autobanned yesterday for a day, for 'sharing an IP address' with a banned user called freiya something. Pretty odd.

— Galactus (talk) 05:41, 13 January 2016 (EST)

As far as I concerned, there's no block logs for User:Galactus, do you have any screenshots?  Morpheus talk 07:20, 13 January 2016 (EST)
Nope, check for Freiya something. It claimed I was autobanned for a day for sharing that person's IP. — Galactus (talk) 07:27, 13 January 2016 (EST)
I've double–checked the IP logs, and see that there are no IP similarities between you and anyone in blocklist.  Morpheus talk 08:53, 13 January 2016 (EST)

Collapsible blocks of text

Does this exist? Not too familiar with wikipedia's software and its myriad of modules so I figured I'd ask here since it would be nice to have and make for VASTLY tidier/neater articles, and it'd also lessen the amount of scrolling required.

Persistent up/down arrows would also be a nice addition, but that'd require more than just a wiki template.

— Galactus (talk) 07:39, 4 February 2016 (EST)

For your second addition, I think a regular browser's scrollbar would be enough.  Morpheus talk 12:33, 4 February 2016 (EST)
Just think it'd be neater to collapse the systemd patch (dnscrypt) and the platform dependent init scripts. Would make the article about half as long and OpenRC users wouldn't have to see a shitton of systemd crap and vice-versa. — Galactus (talk) 11:28, 5 February 2016 (EST)

Warning template

For some reason, a number of pages I added a warning template to have the template broken. I do not know why. I think the issue is that the template does not like to render external links.--Se7en (talk) 01:12, 21 February 2016 (EST)

It has been addressed in Help:Template#Escape template-breaking characters, and workarounds has been issued.  Morpheus talk 02:32, 21 February 2016 (EST)

I'll address this later with user:bananafish to change the wiki's license to CC BY-SA or GFDL (or we can do dual licensing), Public Domain is a bit too.. free.
For now, just add a notice somewhere. But I'm pretty sure because of the wiki's nature, it falls under fair use policy.
